Learn More About Asylum Seekers in Maine

Many of the families seeking asylum in our community are working to start a new life in Maine after a multi-year journey from Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Many families traveled here from Africa to Brazil, through treacherous routes in Central America to Texas, ultimately arriving in Maine in the spring of 2022 where they were sheltered at the Best Western hotel in Yarmouth.
